What I’m most passionate about as an actuary, is bridging the gap between life expectancy and healthy life expectancy. The average life expectancy is over 80 years, but the healthy life expectancy is in the 70s in Japan 2023. So, that means, on average, a lot of people spend about 10 years in poor health at the end of their lives. I would like to ask all actuaries around the world. How can we bridge this huge gap? And how can we create a world of well-being society? I believe actuaries have a unique and powerful role to play. If actuaries around the world unite to analyze, quantify, and truly understand health, we can help shape a future where more people live longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives!
