This webinar will provide an overview of the Actuarial Society of South Africa’s Climate Committee's newly released toolkit for incorporating climate considerations into the management of retirement funds. 2024 was the hottest year ever recorded in human history, as confirmed by the World Meteorological Organisation. The average global temperature was more than 1.5°C above the pre-industrial baseline, which is a critical threshold set by the Paris Agreement. Recently, we have seen the devastating effects of wildfires in California, with both the extent and severity having been increased by climate change, according to scientists. To assist retirement fund actuaries and trustees, a working group from the Actuarial Society of South Africa Climate Committee developed a toolkit for incorporating climate considerations into the management of a retirement fund. The toolkit provides an overview of climate change, its relevance to retirement funds, and a framework for practical application.Access the Climate Change Toolkit for Retirement Fund Actuaries in the documents next to the video or here: https://www.actuaries.org/IAA/Documents/PBSS/Webinars/2025/Climate%20Cha...
