Susan HayesCulleton is well known to the Society through her outstanding work on the TY Program over the last few years.   Members may also know Susan from her Newstalk Radio Show “Taking Stock” and her wider consultancy in the areas of financial markets, economics, and entrepreneurship.

A number of years ago Susan came across an article on decision making techniques and processes and intrigued, went on a journey of research into what turned out to be a rich subject area.  How do we build our ability to make effective decisions? How do we assess the quality of our decisions? How do we drive decision making down through our organisations?

As part of our Flourishing Actuary program, Susan will deliver a CPD session based on what she learnt in that research leaning on literature and business best practice.

Agenda

During this hour-long interaction, you will learn:

  • some highly effective decision-making models
  • the questions to ask of yourself and of others to discern the quality of decision-making
  • the fallacy that can cloud the difference between a good outcome and a good decision
  • the biases that can colour your decision assessments
  • three great book recommendations
