Mortality trends in the wake of the acute phase of the COVID-19 pandemic are not a reliable predictor of future mortality, and actuaries can no longer steer assumptions by just looking in the rearview mirror. RGA is currently conducting a thorough analysis of emerging U.S. population mortality data to identify how U.S. mortality has changed through the pandemic, determining what it looks like in 2023 and early 2024, and to understand where it may be headed, nationally as well as globally, in the coming years.
RGA’s Micah Canaday, Vice President, Data & Analytics, Americas Data Solutions kicks off this important research and discovery with a short video, exploring the why and the how of Post-Pandemic Mortality Trends.
